SESERI award@Dewan Gemala Puteri

..The first SESERI award for a start of the year 2010......it was based on End of Year result when they were in form four 2009.

...The awards are fo those who have scored excellent PNG(K)....whereby the Principal will anounce it during an assembly and Mentor teachers will give away the certificates...

...apart from the certificate, other interesting incentive is 'Pulang bermalam'~ a date of their choice!.

...Midhtra, Irdina, Iznee, Izleanna Sofea...

...and as for my mentees..I have four high achievers to be proud of..:Midhtra, Iznee, Irdina and Izlienna Sofea...Go on striving girls...all out for your SPM...

Cross Country @Taman Rimba Kiara

..As early as 6.00 am..buses started to move from school compound..heading to Taman Rimba....Students performed Subuh prayer at the mosque nearby...The second trip was at 6.30 am..some of the teachers including me...following the trip...

...Ask me about the students mood!....of course they are excited and anxious to be at the venue....Teachers mood??..equally excited to see our students win!

..It is an annual event for our school...to join MILO in 'Cross Country' event...It is definitely good for us because we dont have to really organise it on our own...just join them!...students get the certificate of participation which contribute 8 marks for their cocurriculum...and teachers too dont have much to do except for taking care of the girls......

...There are others who participate too...but not as many as ours..which comprised of about 190 of the girls....

...By 11.30 am...all dismisssed...back to hostels...Cant imagine ...most will experience muscle ache here and there!!!...and adding to it...tomorrow is a school day for them!!

Birthday Celeb@Grand Season

...Birthday celeb for January and February buddies were again held out of the school area!! It was @ Grand Season...Inilah sambutan pertama pembuka tirai tahun 2010...

...It was on Saturday afternoon...lepas sekolah ganti pagi itu...
Teachers and staf were flocking to Grand Season...for the Hi Tea...
..Erm..sedapnya makan.....banyak varieties.......hingga terlupa semua jumlah kalori......
But its okay...lepas ni lets burn the calories!!!

Small Group Discussion

The lesson start with a simple induction set~ The short show of teaching courseware of the transmission of impulse from the receptor forming a circuit which finally reaches the effector...And it is The Nervous system stuff....

After the show, there is a brief explanation about the whole thing ~the pathway, the structures involved and of course the significance of the system....
...And next is the break up of the students into smaller groups so that they can discuss the whole of the process among themselves....And I call it "Small Group Discussion' which might last about 20 minutes or until all of them are happy with their discussion !!
That method (Small Group discussion) is somehow quite relevant in some of the chapters in the teaching and learning Biology~ I believe that the peer explanation will help to enhance the content knowledge in Biology...at the same time: the chances to fall asleep is decreased =D

Malaysia Technology Expo 2010@PWTC

...Its 9th Msia Technology Expo 2010 + 9th Invention & Innovation awards 2010 @ PWTC Kuala Lumpur...

...Luckily Pn Zu and Norsham reminded me about the event...otherwise we will miss it!!

...Sekolah dah dekat dengan PWTC, others from all over the country datang dengan bas....yang dekat inilah tak perasan ada expo...Maybe that particular week, 3 of my days were not in school...otherwise i would have noticed the banner along the road displaying the advertisment about the expo....

...So without much delay, the decision has to be made fast...Pagi saturday tu Ms Swee Moi and I terus brief the students during morning assembly~ to choose who are going to be the participants......and we are going to 'walk' to PWTC...in two groups~ 10.00 am to 12.15 noon....

...and as for teachers to accompany: theres no problem at all...Siti fatimah and Liza of Bio department have no objection...knowing that this expo is beneficial for the students and for us too....

..I consider this is the first bio department activity of the year 2010...mainly to create the awareness of innovation and invention among the seseri girls...because they are the future generations whom the country rely on

..and it was interesting~ the expo/ exhibition by MOSTI benefits the girls~ they brought back many pamphlets and above all: the knowledge and ideas about innovation.....which is useful to them...because ...very soon we are going to hold a competition at school level ...as to produce one for the competetion among SBP .. in late April....

..So girls: ...........Go and think Innovation` be creative!

'Hands-on' activities are indeed FUN

Ask any educators about the best teaching technique... The answer is surely the one which is actively participated by the students~~

'Hands-on, minds-on' ~~~~
Student-centred....constructivisme...contextual..mastery..
....cooperative....collaborative ...
..True enough...tru my observation...when activities are involved, I could see the excitement in my students...their body language tells!..It just that...due to time constrain, rushing for syllabus~~exam oriented...huhhh......there is tendency to revert to 'teacher-centred'....Poor thing!...When will it last?

When AJK MGCKL meet

The first meeting in 2010 @BTPN ~ AJK of Majlis Guru Cemerlang Kuala Lumpur...
..planning activities and programmes for teachers and students of Kuala Lumpur..

..Erm..wearing our first batik rasmi~ Gold is our colour!...but the kurung is orangy.....orangy gold...gold orange...whateva !

..Datin Azah`as penyelaras GC of WPKL from JPWP, Pn Rohana: Ketua Nazir WPKL, Cik Rolah as nazir penyelaras GC WPKL.....were present in the meeting.....Ketua Nazir was giving ideas and the latest information about the profession: Guru Cemerlang....Most talked about among teachers!

....it lasted from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm....and it was fruitful !

..Our upcoming event is Program Suai Kenal Guru Cemerlang Baru 2010` due on the 15th April...~so....preparation has to be started!..

Bio Think Tank 2010@BTPN

....A yearly affair...we meet again,,to finalised the items (Questions) for two set of papers schedule to be released for two examinations this year...

It was done for two days @BTPN Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras...I was together with Ani Mustafa, Siti Marhamah, Hanim and Badariah....forever frens...BIO frens!..We have alwiz been together in almost all activities related to bio ...and there's no doubt about it..there is a chemistry between us...eventhough we are teaching Biology!!!!

The very last day: the five of us have lunc together at BTPN cafetaria...

...Ani is teaching @ SMKRaja Abdullah, Marhamah @ SMK Tmn Melati, Hanim @ SMKP Pudu and Bada @ SMK Padang Tembak...

Looking at the way they work..you really can salute them..The seriousness, the dedication, the commitment...are beyond explanation...

I'm happy and blessed ...to have frens who really share the same passion for Biology...

and enjoyed every minutes working with them to improve Biology subject......

..The nice thing about teamwork is that you always have others on your side...
