BioTech Education Symposium@ Le Meridien KL

..It was on monday the school resumed (after a week break) .. i got the letter requesting me to attend the Symposium..And the girls were having their Diagnostic Test, so I didnt worry much about leaving the class for that informative event!..
...I ve attended all sort of events...especially these few years back..and sort of addicted to attend the varieties: Colloquium, symposium, workshop, seminars.....out of excitement to gain knowledge...especially when it s related to my expertise...

..Just sharing the meaning of these terms:

1. Colloquium:An academic meeting or seminar usually led by a different lecturer and on a different topic at each meeting

2. Symposium: A meeting or conference for discussion of a topic, especially one in which the participants form an audience and make presentations.

3. Workshop:a.k.a.bengkel................

As for the symposium which I attended @ Le Meridien and Sheraton Imperial KL organised by BioTech Corp on the 23-24th March.. was all about Biotechnology Education. ...and the contents were packed with informations and exposure to selected Biology teachers and the school counselors (100 participants) about the biotech industries and career opportunities in the future which is very promising...

..and the issue and challenges faced by science teachers in creating students awareness about the existence and the importance of this industry in Malaysia....and Biotech Corp is given responsibility to introduce Biotech to the grassroots~ target groups are the teachers and students!

~~It is all about : Agriculture biotech, health care, pharmacist, Industrial biotech~ fermentation, bioprocessing, biofuel, microbes teaching, enzymes...and Bioinformatics..etc..etc..etc..

~Thanks to the panels: Dr Wan Abdul Rahman, chief operator of BioTech Corp, Dr Khair of MOE and Dr Haili~ for sharing knowledge in the Symposium~which was fruitful

Bones Alive!

It was in the evening when I started the new Chapter 2 : Locomotion and Support..
It was kinda late to start the Chapter..since we hv so many school breaks in between....

..And when the two classes combined, I couldnt think of any other ways to make them 'alive' for that one hour 0f extra class......

..Introducing them to a new chapter and let them identify the bones a.k.a. vertebrae....in the Lab...

..And times ticking...without they realising it...the class ended!

CDC Task@The Federal Kuala Lumpur

..My month of Mac started with the meeting call from CDC a.k.a. Bahagian Pembangunan Kurikulum KPM...It is Mesyuarat Pemurnian Terjemahan Spesifikasi Kurikulum Bagi matapelajaran sains elektif tingkatan 5---my task of course is the one which related to my subject: Biology...

..It is from 2nd-4th Mac and is@ The Federal KL.....located in the heart of the Kuala Lumpur city.....It takes about half an hour to reach there....(The good thing which I like is when the meeting is done in my own place~KL, bcoz I dont have to worry about how to go to the place! ) ....The Federal~ a three star hotel....combining the old world charm with modern comforts...and offers contemporary accommodation to make your stay a memorable one....And its so good that I have a room of my own~non sharing...adding to it..on the non-smoking floor where there are Merdeka Deluxe Rooms which are claimed to be newly refurbished!...and they claimed that their pillows are soft & puffy feathered ones...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

...and the facilities in the room.......and the food.........Two thumbs UP..!

Four pillows for me alone!!!!
...and just like the title of the task..for 2 nites and 3 days...we r doing the translation (From BI to BM )... doing the editing.....revising and improving the content of the syllabus of Biology...My team consists of 7 Biology teachers who come from different schools and states: Negeri 9, WPKL, Selangor, Pahang and Malacca...dealing with CONTENT of the subject......................
...and....Searching for the possible chapters to insert 3 new important elements: Entrepreneur, Inovation and creativity, new sciences such as nano technology, bio technology or fermentation technology...

.....Its another change in our education curriculum.......We are transforming the curriculum....we call it Transformasi Kurikulum!...Students of Tahun1 will use this kurikulum in 2011, Tahun 2 and Form 1 will use in 2012...By 2015 The form 4s will use this Transformasi Kurikulum...which we are slowly developing it from now!...........banyak lagi perlu disediakan!!!

...Uh..uh..I expect more calls from CDC...later from Text Books Division (BBT) and maybe BTP (Education Technology Division)...................but never mind ...a contribution to the country...makes me feel good...
