SESERI ~SBP and SBT

Finally we made it...we have been aiming for that title since 2009..Have been improving our school programmes year by year..When the first cohort group (20 schools) was finalised last year, we knew we would not get it...because we were still lack in a few criteria, especially the networking parts.. but...That did not disappoint us..Never!

Again we tried..That was mid 2010..and it went on until late 2010~ the evaluation was continuous..It was demanding: the documentation and the presentation..It was based on specific criteria..We have to meet to the demand !

And it was like almost giving up...when they (KPM) said only 20 schools will be selected in 2011..But we prayed hard because we want to be recognised...and we feel that we deserve it !

At last...when Deputy PM announced..our dream comes true !...And the principal proudly announced to all teachers and students, officially in a special assembly on Saturday.

We are recognised as one of the Sekolah Berprestasi Tinggi (SBT) among 22 other schools in Malaysia..And there are now only 43 SBT...So proud !!.There will be 100 SBT by 2012~That's the target. Everybody is so happy with the achievement..And the incentives that we'r gonna get...AND of course..we are prepared to work even harder in order to maintain the title. Its definitely gonna be tough..but believe me, we will make it through !

So...after the announcement, we decided to have a small celeb @Corus Hotel..Just makan2 bersama Dato' Halim (AJK PIBG) and teachers and staff of SESERI..Makan satay, chicken Lasagna, ABC plus ice cream...Destressing !!

JK Induk GC bermesyuarat

It has been a month since 2011 started...barulah boleh dapat tarikh yang sesuai untuk JK Induk Majlis Guru Cemerlang KL bermesyuarat..Sepatutnya lebih awal...tapi ditunda atas berbagai sebab...Akhirnya berjaya dijalankan..

Dengan 23 orang AJK, mesyuarat padat dengan perbincangan program bagi tahun 2011. YDP, Pn Masariah dan Datin Azah, sebagai penyelaras GC , wakil dari JPN~ mempengerusikan mesyuarat..
Some of the AJK: Ketua-ketua zon ..(We have 4 zones in KL : Zon Pudu, Bangsar, Keramat and Sentul.
..Acara kemuncak...memilih batik rasmi GC KL set yang ketiga..AJK needs this batik badly...sebab we are the one who always represent GC for many functions...Tak nak asyik2 pakai baju sama....Anyway we have 2 sets already...
Having fun choosing one..Rus, Thong and Mr Tan..
Then...we also plan to have one baju korporat...which will be managed by Datin Zahrah..

And of course the meeting was filled up with how to go about doing activities listed in our Strategic planning....and it lasted until 2.30 pm..Setiausaha, tolong sediakan minit mesyuarat segera...hahaha..

Booster Towards A+ Bio Programme

Bengkel Kecemerlangan Biologi 2011 telah diadakan pada hari Sabtu, 12 Februari 2011 bertempat di Dewan Gemala Puteri, SM Sains Seri Puteri Kuala Lumpur. Bengkel ini telah diadakan selama satu hari bermula jam 8.00 pagi sehingga jam 10.30 malam. Bengkel yang diberi nama ‘Booster Towards A+ Biology Programme’ ini telah dihadiri oleh 215 pelajar tingkatan 5 dan telah diuruskan oleh guru-guru Biologi SM Sains Seri Puteri. Seramai 3 orang guru Biologi telah mengisi slot bengkel tersebut dan mengendalikan ceramah berkenaan topik-topik yang telah dibahagikan mengikut jadual seperti berikut:-

· Pn. Noor Arifah binti Moider – Bab 2, 3 dan 4 (Kertas 1 & 2)

· Pn. Siti Fatimah Noor bt Abd Mubin - Bab 5,6,7,8 (Kertas 1&2)

- Soalan 2 (Kertas 3)

· Pn. Mahadiah binti Muda - Bab 9 (Kertas 1&2)

- Soalan 1 (Kertas 3)

Bengkel ini bertujuan untuk membantu pelajar melakukan ulangkaji secara komprehensif dan optimum untuk Peperiksaan Intervensi 2011. Melalui program ini para pelajar seharusnya dapat mengukuhkan lagi pemahaman mereka berkenaan topik-topik tingkatan 4. Selain itu, objektif penting Panel Panitia Biologi adalah untuk memberikan pendedahan berkenaan bentuk-bentuk soalan yang lazim keluar dalam peperiksaan sebenar. Dengan cara itu, para pelajar diharap mendapat input yang total dan ekslusif untuk persediaan mereka berdepan dengan apa jua peperiksaan yang bakal mendatang. Di samping itu juga, Panel Panitia Biologi dapat memberi suntikan semangat kepada para pelajar untuk mereka terus bekerja keras mendapatkan markah cemerlang bagi matapelajaran Biologi.

Para pelajar telah berkumpul di Dewan Gemala Puteri seawal jam 7.00 pagi. Persediaan dari segi teknikal telah dilakukan oleh pengawas yang bertugas bagi menyediakan mikrofon dan Dyna scan yang berfungsi dengan baik. Bengkel ini terbahagi kepada 3 slot. Slot 1 untuk penerangan kertas 1 dan 2, slot 2 untuk penerangan kertas 3 dan slot 3 untuk teknik menjawab soalan dan sesi penilaian.

Tepat jam 8.00 pagi, slot 1 telah dimulakan oleh Pn. Noor Arifah binti Moider. Berdasarkan modul yang diberikan kepada pelajar dan buku teks Biologi, beliau telah menerangkan subtajuk-subtajuk penting dan bentuk soalan yang sering ditanya dalam peperiksaan sebenar. Slot bersama Pn. Noor Arifah telah berlangsung sehingga jam 9.30 pagi. Slot berikutnya telah disambung oleh Pn Siti Fatimah Noor. Beliau telah menerangkan tentang topik 5 dan topik 6. Kemudian, pelajar berhenti rehat selama setengah jam.

Pada pukul 11.00 pagi, Pn. Siti Fatimah Noor telah menyambung slot 1 dengan memberi penerangan topik 7 hingga topik 8. Kemudian, pada pukul 12.00 tengahari, Pn Mahadiah telah mengambil alih slot 2 dengan menerangkan topik 9. Slot 2 berakhir pada pukul 12.30 tengahari dan pelajar dibenarkan rehat untuk makan tengahari.

Slot 2 merupakan slot teknik menjawab soalan kertas 3 atau soalan amali/eksperimen. Slot ini bermula selepas pelajar selesai makan tengahari dan solat zohor. Soalan Kertas 3 bakal membawa markah penuh 50. 33 markah diperuntukkan untuk soalan 1 manakala 17 markah diperuntukkan untuk soalan 2. Oleh itu, tepat jam 2.00 petang, Pn. Mahadiah telah mengambil peranan mengendalikan slot Kertas 3, Soalan 1 diikuti oleh Pn. Siti Fatimah Noor yang memberikan ceramah berkenaan Soalan 2, Kertas 3. Slot 2 tamat pada pukul 4.30 petang dan pelajar dibenarkan turun ke asrama untuk pengurusan diri sehingga pukul 8.30 malam.

Pada pukul 8.30 malam, Pn Mahadiah telah mengendalikan slot 3 untuk Teknik Menjawab Soalan dan Sesi Penilaian. Borang Penilaian telah diagihkan kepada pelajar bersama-sama modul Program.

Konklusinya, Booster Towards A+ Biology Programme telah berjalan dengan lancar dan mencapai objektif dengan jayanya. Ahli-ahli panel telah memberi komitmen yang jitu ke arah menjayakan program ini. Maka, dengan berjayanya bengkel Booster Towards A+ Biology Programme ini, diharap dapat membawa seribu makna dan harapan untuk Panitia Biologi terus mengorak kecemerlangan. Semoga Panitia Biologi terus cemerlang seiring dengan visi dan misi kecemerlangan SM Sains Seri Puteri.

My Pet Cat

My Pet Cat ~ The common title for an essay- at primary school level...and maybe at a lower secondary school level...and now become my choice of posting to be published.. 'Memok ' my pet cat somehow inspired me to blog about her !

I always like cats..especially a disciplined, well mannered cats!...And we never bought cats..it is always a stray cat....somehow it always started with a morning 'meow' infront of the house door.....and it always started with a kitten !

And it is 'Memok, about nine months back..when she came with her first morning 'meow' in front of the house door, she was a stray kitten then....And Yuyu and Titi (My two daughters) insisted on keeping her because she was so playful and lovable..and their dad approved..

Each month....watching her grows and plays..amusing and entertaining. Feeding her with cat food and she never gives us problem, and know how to manage herself..

And then came another stray kitten, which we called him "baby" , at a time when we were busy renovating the house...and he is not in a good condition....have pneumonia, later on died of poisoning, which upset me for a week...because he was so attached to me. The fact that I was trying to save him by bringing him to the Pusat Pengurusan dan Penjagaan Kucing (The first time to get involved with Cats Centre )...but it was too late to save him.

...The last days with 'Baby' and the bill charged for his treatment which later left a memory!
Starting with that, when Memok is pregnant and at the same time has an eye infection, bringing her to see the 'vet' and get the treatment..and it took almost two weeks for her to recover..finally with a few drops of zam-zam water !

And when the sign of 'delivering' shows~ spots of blood..all of us panicked, didn't know what to do...searching information from internet...everybody get involved..And the morning when she had pain and gave birth to a kitten, the first kitten died..and Syafiq witnessed it, calling and asking me what to do next..And 'memok' didnt want Syafiq to be away from her..From morning until evening, after the first kitten borned, no sign of the next kitten to come out...So, I called Mr VET..and he asked me to bring Memok right away..scared that the other unborn kitten might be dead inside and would affect Memok later on.

So...I brought Memok to see Vet...and she was injected hormone (It cost me RM85).. to initiate the uterus contraction...and I left her at the centre for 4 days with RM12 per day, charge for boarding !...And a day later, when I called Mr Vet, he said that Memok has no babies in her...she probably has problem with her pregnancy~ And some cats have problems like that too...

Memok was at the Cat Centre: for 4 days~ on treatment after having problem with 'delivery'..

And a day before she was supposed to check out, Titi missed her so much and asked the brother, Uda to fetch Memok...and Mr Vet agreed to board her because she's already okay..

Back home she was meowing like what...may be telling everyone that she's missing home....Running wild up and downstairs~ it really touched !

And after that she was more attached to us..especially towards Titi, always tag along everywhere Titi moved...

Today, she is again sent to the Cats Centre for one day: 'Rawatan kutu' and 'potong kuku' and Uda has to leave her for 'sterility' tomorrow..The treatment cost me RM165.00

Thats the story about her so far.....And I dont know why I get involved so much with her..and dont mind spending on this 'stray cat' . May be because she knows how to behave well..

And of course.. cats are destressing...and she is trying to communicate with us in her own language. And funny enough, we are interpreting what she is 'meowing' about...

House Renovation Part 3

..And the touching up of the exterior wall....Thanks to ICI Consultant for the recommended exterior paint...its basically Mediterranean colour..We dont want the common colours of yellow, magnolia, brown..the usual house exterior paint....We want something different but not so eye-catching, not so bright...but has its own characteristic ! so Miss Raiyan Alsagoff of AkzoNobel ICI propose as follows..The cleaning and scraping of the old exterior paint....the kain pelikat of the Indonesian workers...are in the scene!
The fixing of colored window glasses...for a change..The added walls to the existing balcony to convert to extra area of dining room and living room upstairs.

The testing of the exterior wall recommended: Lime twist colour..
..and the pillars / the columns are mercury..
The 'mercury' columns...
All the windows and grilles are supposed to be ALL white..

Mat and Min are adjusting the window glasses...
Rus is fixing the window..
....They are all out to complete the reno fast...And We really cant wait...To see the final product..

House renovation Part 2

It has been almost two months...the house reno is progressingly well..The contractor team work is superb..With us not leaving the house, it is definitely quite an arrangement to make..which part of the house to settle first...It really demand a lot of patience for all in the family....The boss: En Yusri supervising the work..The clearing of the old patio ceiling..

The fixing of the wood panelling as the patio ceiling, outside the house, patiently arranged by Pak Hussin and Min ,the kelantanese guys..
Not yet shellacked...
And...Adam, specialised in painting~ repainting the interior wall of the whole house...
...And one out of three baths which almost completed with fittings and accessories~ what I like most is the new 'top hung', the plaster ceiling and the down lights !..The tiles are The White Horse...and the bowls and basins are Johnson Suisse...@ a reasonable cost.

What is next ?

Visitors from Jawa Tengah

It was on the 27th, when a bus of Jawa Tengah teachers plus students visited our school...And as always...I have to prepare my Bio lab for the international visitors....Of course they were impressed by almost everything...And they asked many questions regarding T&L in Malaysia....And their Bio teachers also were here...

...Selamat Datang ibu-ibu dan bapak-bapak....Moga2 anda mendapat manfaat daripada lawatan ke sekolah kami...
