Bio Extra Class

...It was 3.30 pm when Bio extra class started..(Infact every Monday between 3.30-4.30pm is Bio extra class slot..Every Monday starting February..The extra class is meant to complete the bio syllabus earlier so that students can start revision programme early)

It was hard to maintain the girls attention, at this time of the day..After 7 hours of T&L, then they have one hour break for lunch and prayers, then, up again to the Hall for this extra class..And even teachers too..equally exausted and worned out..but do we have choice??

This time is a bit different..I didnt teach but i returned their Test Papers. There were 2 classes combined: 5Adioda and 5 Bakerara. They were checking each other's papers..They were excited over getting their friends, papers..and checking their friends' marks..

I was giving the correct answers..they were checking together wif me..There were 30 objective questions altogether..There were uuuuuuhhh, oooohhhhhhh, aaahhhhhhh, eeehhhhhh...following the answers given, be it : A, B,C or D...Somehow they made jokes out of it with all sort of sounds...i let them be...i cld see that some tensions released...

And i continued giving answers for another 4 structured questions..they were comparing their friends' answers with my answers..there were slight argument here and there but finally managed to get it solved..and one thing for sure, when i was giving and justifying the correct answers ,then only they realised why their answers were wrong or unacceptable....**SIGH**My Reflection: They have a lot more to memorise..if they wanna score A Bio..

Without realising, it was already 4.30 pm..Quickly i asked them to total up the marks and convert it to %..They did it..and then all papers were collected and passed back to me : to record the final marks....Well...at last i managed to maintain their attention for that hour..

So teachers, what i wld like to share here is that:
T&L is not necessarily occur by delivering lessons wif all types of pedagogy..but by discussing the correct answers after each test will also help the students to master the contents of the chapter....at the same time they r more aware of the correct ways as how to write/put into correct words of their answers..
